Mervin Shuter and his father purchased the first Red Poll Heifer in 1941 and we’ve maintained an impressive herd ever since - resulting in cattle that perform well in both the feedlot and the show ring.

Shuter Sunset Farms is focused on raising premium quality, great tasting beef for the community.

Our steers and heifers form the basis of our Indiana Farm Fresh Beef, freezer beef program. Thanks to the Indiana Farm Fresh Beef program, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy four generations of passion in the best beef possible.

As part of our Indiana Farm Fresh Beef training, we’ve been trained and certified in the IQ+BEEF program through Purdue University, which covers:
  • Beef quality assurance and animal health
  • Animal handling and well-being
  • Environmental stewardship
  • Genetic selection

OUR CATTLE

Our animals are only fed home-raised feeds, and developed with no implants or growth hormones. The beef you take home with you retains all of the tenderness possible to give you a true taste of passion. 

The Red Poll breed has been identified by the USDA Meat Animal Research Center as one of the breeds of cattle that produce the most naturally tender beef. 

Besides our Red Poll cattle, we also purchase Angus influenced calves from our local neighbors.
